Our Verdict
The Dreame Z10 Station is an advanced and efficient upright vacuum cleaner with automatic emptying that makes everyday life much easier. It has strong suction, is easy to handle and has an effective filter system. The fact that it’s also beautifully designed is a plus. Sure, it requires some dedicated space, but we really like it and it deserves a high rating.
The cleaning tech in our homes requires more and more space. Some robot vacuum cleaners now have huge charging stations that contain tanks for clean and dirty water – as well as dust bags. These are increasingly large pieces of equipment designed to remove pollutants from around the home. Plus, in winter, many of us like to add a humidifier or dehumidifier to an already considerable arsenal of products designed to keep our homes clean and fresh.
Design & Build
Recently, this trend has spread to the product category of cordless vacuum cleaners. As we all know, when it’s time to empty the small onboard dust container into the bin, it usually means that a cloud of small particles swirls up and spreads around the room. It’s not great, but there is now a solution to the problem. Yes, you guessed it: an auto emptying station.
Dreame
Samsung, with its Bespoke Jet model (see our review to find out more), was the first to offer just such a solution and now Dreame is joining the trend.
The Dreame Z10 Station, as the model is called, is a substantial piece of kit that takes up a lot of floor space. Still, you won’t have to mount a wall bracket, with ugly drill holes in the wall, as with many stick vacuums, and if you decide you want to move it, it’s a simple matter.

The design language is clean and simple and both the base station and the stick vacuum cleaner exude quality. The main unit has a contemporary pistol grip and the matt finish is pleasant in the hand.
On the rear panel, facing the user, there’s a display that shows the remaining battery life and the selected power mode. There are also two buttons, one for choosing the mode, the other for locking the vacuum cleaner into active mode so you don’t have to hold the trigger while vacuuming.
It’s user-friendly and logical, but unfortunately there’s no auto mode with an associated sensor that adapts the suction power according to how dirty the floor is. If that’s a feature you’re looking for, check out our review of the Shark Detect Pro, which you can buy with a self-emptying dock.
The battery at the base can be removed and replaced with a fully charged one – that is, if you live in a small castle and need a longer vacuuming time than the (up to) 65 minutes the battery provides.
Performance & Features
Along with the vacuum cleaner and base station comes a bunch of cleaning heads and nozzles, two full-sized and three smaller ones for different purposes. For the smaller ones, you also get a small storage rack.

The suction power is specified at 150AW which is more than enough to effectively suck up dirt. The vacuum cleaner is easy to handle and I could reach under the bed, sofa and other low furniture without any problems. Thanks to the blue light technology in the front of the main nozzle, the dust on the floor surface is illuminated, so you can quickly see where you might need to do some extra vacuuming. It’s not quite as effective as Dyson’s laser-based counterpart, but still very useful.
Andreas Bergsman
When the cleaning session is over, just dock the vacuum cleaner in the base station, press the dedicated button for automatic emptying and the dirt is sucked into the dust collection bag that holds a full 2.5 litres, which in turn only needs to be replaced a few times a year (two bags are included).
It’s convenient, and a good option for people with allergies, who don’t want a dust cloud in the face every time they empty their vacuum.
Should you buy the Dreame Z10 Station?
We’d recommend the Z10 Station. But at this stage, the key problem is its international availability. If you can’t buy it in your region, we’ve reviewed some excellent, self-emptying alternatives. Have a look at our reviews of the Samsung Bespoke Jet and the Ultenic FS1 for a cordless vacuum that comes with an auto-empty dock. Unlike the Samsung and the Ultenic, the Shark Detect Pro doesn’t come with a self-emptying dock as standard but it can be bought in a bundle with one.
