Considering a folding phone? We’ll bet price is the main reason you’re hesitating. Foldables are simply too expensive to be considered value for money for most people, regardless of budget.
However, Amazon has come through with some huge discounts that make them much more affordable. Both of Samsung’s latest foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, are down to their lowest ever prices in the retailer’s spring sale.
It means the Fold 5 now starts at just £1,299, a big improvement compared to the usual £1,749. Incredibly, the high-end 1TB model is actually the cheapest, meaning you’re saving £800 on its launch price.
However, there are also big discounts on the Flip 5. It now starts at just £749, a full £300 less than the £1,049 launch price. There’s also £300 of if you step up from 256- to 512GB of storage – it costs £849.
These deals are available to you even if you’re not a Prime member, though subscribers will get access to free next-day delivery. After a 30-day free trial, Prime costs £8.99/$14.99 per month or £95/$139 if you pay annually. However, there are plenty of other perks, including access to the Prime Video streaming service and 100 million songs via Amazon Music Prime.
The Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 are both marketed as a ‘Spring Deal’, meaning they’re set to expire once the ‘Spring Deal Days’ event ends at 11.59pm on 25 March.
The equivalent ‘Big Spring Sale’ in the US ends at the same time, and $300 off the Z Fold 5 is included – it’s now down to just $1,499.99.
Strangely, while the new $849.99 starting price of some colours of the Z Flip are shown as part of the sale, the actual best price of $799.99 isn’t. Either way, we’d still recommend taking advantage of it before the end of 25 March.
