Dune: Part Two earned $81.5 million in its opening weekend in the US, nearly matching the record set in October by Taylor Swift’s concert film The Eras Tour. The movie grossed $97 million internationally, earning as much as $178 million globally over the weekend.
Audiences rushed to cinemas, and it’s hardly surprising: shot in IMAX, Dune: Part Two is electrifying. Magnificent shots of the desert, extraordinary costumes and mesmerising scenography look best on the big screen.
However, many viewers enchanted by Dune’s visual splendour will likely want to rewatch it at home, if only to follow their favourite scenes closely.
Here’s all we know about Dune: Part Two’s home release. If you want to learn more about the movie, read our round-up on Dune: Part Two and watch the trailer below.
When could Dune: Part Two release on VOD?
The second part of the epic sci-fi tale came out on 1 March 2024 and, for now, can only be seen in cinemas.
At the time of writing, it hasn’t been announced when Dune: Part Two may be available to rent or buy. Warner Bros. movies usually drop on VOD around six to eight weeks after releasing in cinemas, but this time can vary depending on how the film is doing at the cinema.
If it follows the usual pattern, then Dune: Part Two could get a digital release at the beginning of May.
When could Dune: Part Two release on DVD/Blu-ray?
The exact release date for DVD and Blu-ray also hasn’t been set, but we have good news for you. If waiting for the film’s home release is wearing you out, you can already pre-order a physical copy of Dune: Part Two.
On the Amazon website or on Walmart online store, you can book a Blu-Ray or a DVD copy. The real treat is, however, the 4K Limited Edition Steelbook.
If the VOD version drops in May, then physical copies of the film may also be released in May/June.

When could Dune: Part Two release on streaming?
Due to the pandemic, the first Dune film appeared on Max almost simultaneously as in the cinemas. Of course, this situation won’t happen again. We’ll have to wait a little longer for the release of Dune: Part Two – it will probably appear on the streaming service after its release on DVD and Blu-ray.
Barbie, which was also a Warner Bros. smash hit, appeared on streaming more than 5 months after its theatrical release. On the other hand, Aquaman 2, which did quite well at the box office, came out on Max just 2 months after its premiere. Warner Bros. considers each film as a separate case, and for this reason, predicting when Dune: Part Two may hit streaming is quite difficult.
However, David Zaslav, the head of Warner Bros. Discovery, recently gave a hint on the subject. During Warner’s latest earnings call the CEO stated that Dune: Part Two on streaming could debut as early as spring 2024.
In the meantime, why not catch up (or rewatch) the first Dune movie? In the US, it’s currently available on Max. However, in the UK, you can stream it on Netflix.
