Three years after debuting its first smartwatch, OnePlus is following up with the second edition. And this time, the tech company is making a promise to “do it right”.
The OnePlus Watch 2 will launch at the MWC show in Barcelona on 26 February 2024, so you’ve not got long to wait. We don’t yet know the details regarding pre-ordering/buying the watch – they’ll likely be unveiled after the launch.
The title image shows off the two colours that the OnePlus Watch 2 will be available in: Black Steel and Radiant Steel. The names are inspired by the steel chassis that the wearable boasts, which is paired with a round sapphire crystal watch face.
These colours match the options that you can get the flagship OnePlus 12 smartphone in – take a look at the Radiant Steel watch next to the Flowy Emerald version of the phone:

Hardware aside, the OnePlus Watch 2 allegedly has an impressive 100-hour battery life in ‘Smart Mode’ – we imagine there will be different options available depending on if you want to run the watch to its max performance levels or conserve the juice.
Kinder Liu, COO and President of OnePlus, gave the following quote on the OnePlus Watch 2: “After a three-year hiatus and a reflective pause following the OnePlus Watch 1, the Watch 2 re-emerged, and we are more confident than ever about this product.
“This confidence is not unfounded, it’s built on a foundation of substantial advancements in our technological ecosystem and capabilities. Watch 2 indicates our determination to transform from ‘Flagship Killer’ to ‘Ecosystem builder’.”
The main gripe of the original OnePlus Watch was its buggy, unfinished software. OnePlus has stated that it has learnt from its mistakes, which could point towards this smartwatch running on Google’s wearable operating system. Rumours of this have circulated from leaker Max Jambor, who claims that the Watch 2 will run on Wear OS 4.
If true, this would make it a strong competitor to the likes of the Pixel Watch 2 and Galaxy Watch 6. Hang tight, as we’re now just days away from finding out officially whether that’s the case when the OnePlus Watch 2 makes its official debut in sunny Spain.
