If you have a few Amazon Echos dotted around your home, plus other smart devices that work with Alexa, you may have put them in groups.
Although they’re called Groups, they can also represent different rooms in your home such as Kitchen, Living room, and Dining room.
It’s particularly useful if you have smart lights, because you can walk into any room with an Echo and say “Alexa, turn on the lights” and only the lights in that room will turn on.
But what if you want to move an Echo to a different room? That’s exactly what we’ll cover here, showing you how to specify which devices are in which rooms.
Select the room to move from

Open the Alexa app and tap on the Devices tab at the bottom. Scroll along the list of Groups (rooms) at the top. Note: these will appear only if you have created them.
We’re going to move an Echo from the Kitchen to the Lounge, so tap Kitchen in the list to begin with.
Switch to edit mode

You’ll see a list of the devices associated with the room you’ve tapped on. Tap Edit in the top right corner.
Deselect the Echo from the first room

Now tap on the Echo you want to move out of that room. In this case, it’s Echo 4, so tap it, then tap the big Save button at the bottom of the screen.
Select the room to move the Echo into

Now, tap the < symbol to return to the Devices tab and find the room you’re moving the Echo into from the list at the top.
Tap on it and repeat the process from the previous step: tap Edit and then tap on the Echo you want to add to that room. The only difference here is that you’re selecting, rather than de-selecting, the Echo.
Again, tap SAVE and you’ll see a confirmation message.
That’s all there is to it, and you can add or remove other types of devices from rooms in the same way.
If you want to go further, you can pair an Echo with a Fire TV Stick in order to be able to use Alexa to control the Fire TV with only your voice, without the remote. You can also use an Echo speaker to play sound from your Fire TV.
Similarly, you can pair Echo speakers of the same type to get stereo sound, and even add an Echo Sub for better bass.
