LG has announced that two of its latest lifestyle TVs will be available in the UK. The StanbyME and StanbyME Go will hit shelves next month with a more affordable price than you might expect.
Both devices will retail for £1,199 with a release date of 29 November. They are some of the most unusual smart TVs we’ve seen to date with one able to be moved around the house via a stand on wheels and the other can be carried wherever you go in a suitcase.
Either way, these TVs offer up a 27in Full HD with a modified version of webOS optimised for touch, though both are supplied with remote controls, too. Where you didn’t have a screen before, that’s probably not a problem with either the StanbyME (27Art10) or StanbyME Go (27LX5) – one of many travel TVs unveiled at IFA 2023.
The list of use cases is essentially endless as the StanbyME (announced ahead of CES 2022) can be easily wheeled around your house, out to your garden room or any other room you may possess. Meanwhile, the StanbyME Go’s MIL-STD-810G military-grade suitcase will go wherever you’re willing to carry it.
Both offer 3 hours of battery life so you could watch The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring up a mountain with 2 minutes of juice left.
Each display can be rotated to portrait mode and support screen mirroring via AirPlay or Mirracast. The StanbyME also has NFC for quick pairing and a removable cradle so you can use your phone’s camera for video calls on the big screen.
The StanbyME Go’s display can be used lying flat to play games or has a virtual turntable when music is playing from the built-in speakers. It supports Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and voice control.
If you don’t want to connect wirelessly, both TVs have HDMI and USB ports meaning you can plug in a wide range of devices from streaming sticks to laptops to games consoles.
A list of retailers hasn’t been announced yet, but we’d expect the Stanby TVs to be available from the likes of Amazon, Currys and John Lewis. They are already on sale in the US for $999 and $1,199 (Go).
